This leisure, short trip to Lhasa offers you an experience to be in the world's highest plateau and observe the day life as it was for past centuries. Although at present, the city of Lhasa is a mixture of old and new, the new Lhasa is a modern town, having a network of streets, apartments, hotels and stores. The old city of Lhasa dates back to 6-7th century is round the Jokhang temple, from here one can still see Lhasa of the old days with pilgrims, traders, people from all walks of life. In Lhasa, we will be visiting interesting places from the busy markets of Barkhor, monasteries, and the famed, magnificent Potala Palace which stands majestically over the Lhasa Valley.

01 Sat KATHMANDU - LHASA (3650m)
Transfer to Kathmandu airport for flight to Gongar airport. On arrival drive to Lhasa. Overnight in Hotel. Recommended low activity to rest and acclimatize.

02 Sun LHASA
Visit Potala Palace, Barkhor Market and Jokhang Temple. Overnight in Lhasa Hotel.

03 Mon LHASA
Drepung Monastery, Sera monastery and time permitting visit Norbulinka. Overnight in Hotel.

04 Tue LHASA – KATHMANDU
Early morning transfer to Gongar airport 90 mins drive and fly to Kathmandu. A scenic flight across the Himalayas. Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.

02 Wed LHASA
Morning tour Potala Palace and Norbulinka. Afternoon tour Barkhor bazaar and Jokhang temple.

03 Thu LHASA
Morning tour Drepung Monastery. Afternoon visit Sera monastery. Overnight in Hotel.

04 Fri LHASA
Morning visit the Ani Sakung nunnery. PM free at leisure. Overnight in Hotel.

05 Sat LHASA – KATHMANDU
Early morning transfer to Gongar airport 90 mins drive and fly to Kathmandu. A scenic flight across the Himalayas. Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.

01 Sat KATHMANDU - LHASA (3650m)
Transfer to Kathmandu airport for flight to Gongar airport. This 1.15 hrs flight is spectacular (weather permitting) with views of the mountains including Mt. Everest 8848m. Arrive Gongar airport (3400m) and drive to Lhasa. Recommended low activity to rest and acclimatize. Overnight in hotel.

02 Sun LHASA
Visit Potala the winter Palace of the Dalai Lamas and the 7 century Jokhang Temple, explore the Barkhor market a bustling bazar. Overnight in Hotel.

03 Mon LHASA
Drive 20 mins to Drepung Monastery, the largest Gelugpa sect monastery in Tibet. It has plenty of historical relics, Buddhist scriptures, arts & crafts. Drive 20 mins to Sera monastery situated on a slope north of Lhasa city. This is one of the three great monasteries of Tibet, the other two being Drepung & Ganden. Time permitting, visit Norbulinka the summer palaces of the Dalai Lamas. Overnight in Hotel

04 Tue LHASA - GYANTSE (3950m)
Drive 8 hrs to Gyantse via Kampa La pass 4794m, Yamdrok Tso 4482m also known as Turquoise lake covers 600 sq. km. and is one of the three largest lakes in Tibet. The drive is across Karo La pass 5010m & two other smaller passes before Gyantse town. Overnight in Hotel

05 Wed GYANTSE - SHIGATSE (3900m)
Visit Phalkor monastery & the Kumbum Stupa designed by Newari architects from Nepal. The Phalkor has a special influence over Buddhism owing to its unity of Gelugpa, Sakyapa & Visit Tashilunpo monastery, the seat of the Panchen Lamas. This is the monastery founded by Gedun Drup later recognized as the first Dalai Lama. This monastery houses the Maitreya Buddha statue weighing 275 Kgs of Gold & measures 26metres in height. Overnight in Hotel.

06 Thu SHIGATSE - NEW TINGRI (4342m)
Drive of about 8 hrs to New Tingri 4342m crossing two passes; Tsuo La 4500m and Lhakpa La 5220m. Overnight in Hotel.

07 Fri NEW TINGRI - ZHANGMU (2300m)
Drive approximately 8 hrs to Nyalam 3500m crossing two passes; Lalung La 5050m and Nyalam pass 3800m. Immediately after leaving New Tingri are great views of Mt. Everest (for the Tibetans Chomolangma) and to the left ahead is Mt. Shisapangma. This is a very scenic drive as the road cuts through the Himalayas and the drastic changes in the vegetation and the landscape in such a short distance. Nyalam used to be an important trading post in the past. Overnight in Hotel.

08 Sat ZHANGMU – KATHMANDU (1390m)
After immigration & custom formalities in Zhangmu a short 20 mins walk downhill drive to Friendship Bridge, the border of Nepal & China. This ride may be in trucks or a 45 mins walk, depending on road conditions and weather. Cross the Friendship Bridge on foot to Kodari and after immigration & customs formalities a scenic drive 5 hrs to Kathmandu
