It is the third highest peak at 8586 mt./28,162 ft. situated astride the Nepal / Sikkim border, only a few miles from Tibet. Being in a sensitive area, there are restrictions on most of the routes. The Kanchanjunga massif with its myriad glacier system, high pass crossing and vast un trekked foothills offers the opportunity for almost endless exploration.
Best in the early autumn or late spring by which haza and heat in the low valley floors will contrast sharply with challenges offered high in the shadow of Kanchanjunga.
